War Stories is a raucous evening of off-the cuff storytelling by some of the wildest, loudest and most influential punk rock, new wave and rock’n’roll icons.

The San Francisco line up is specially curated and presented by musician and writer Pleasant Gehman and photographer Theresa Kereakes, the duo behind the LA punk rock 70's fanzine Lobotomy. Every person on stage either has Bay Area roots or performed regularly “back in the day” at venues such as Mabuhay Gardens, Berkeley Square, The Farm, The Covered Wagon, The Sound Of Music, The Deaf Club and Gilman Street.

The San Francisco line up for War Stories includes musicians who currently call the Bay Area home (Peter Case, Jane Wiedlin, Jeff Drake) and Californians who faithfully punked out in The City (Chip Kinman with The Dils, Pleasant Gehman with The Screaming Sirens). LA-based curators Pleasant and Theresa made constant trips to San Francisco to see and perform with bands from the late 1970’s through the late 1990’s.

War Stories, a spoken word/storytelling free-for-all, takes place the night before Chip Kinman, co-founder of The Dils (with late brother Tony) perform a punk rock tribute to the revered punk venue Temple Beautiful.

Pleasant Gehman: "Many of us have known each other for decades: we’ve hung out, played music and gotten drunk together; a few of us were longtime roommates. We’ve played shows with each other and have been on the road together (back in the day as well as more recently) bringing our 'OG' punk essence to other cities, states and countries. We’ve all set the bar for contemporary music, raised all kinds of hell, broken laws constantly and gleefully…. and we’ve lived to tell, in fact, many of us have also actually written books chronicling the wild times. This show is about our insane stories…and YOU GET TO HEAR ALL ABOUT IT!"
